Curriculum

Year 8 – 10
South Fremantle Senior High School offers a wide range of programs designed to cater for the diverse needs of all our students. In Years 8-10 students work to achieve the outcomes of the Curriculum Framework across the eight learning areas. A fixed program in Years 8 & 9 allows access to all learning area with broad choice of electives in Year 10.

Years 11 & 12

South Fremantle Senior High School offers senior students a comprehensive, quality range of Courses of Study. Students select six subjects each year and depending on course selection, successful completion of these subjects will allow either TAFE or university study at the completion of Year 12 or direct entry into employment.

In Year 11 & 12 students can also access qualifications in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL).

• VET courses include:-
• Hospitality, Business and Tourism
• Maritime Industries
• FlexiVET
• Students study in an industrial area of their choice such as automotive or electrics.

Senior School Engagement Program

A Senior Schooling Engagement Program (SSEP) has been established in Hospitality. This program is to engage students who have found traditional schooling challenging. Entry to this program will be by a referral process.

Other Special Features

 Autism Extension Unit

An Autism Extension Unit with specialist staff opened at the commencement of 2009. This unit accepts enrolments from Year 8 onwards and is supported by a teacher trained in special needs and full-time Education Assistants. A new facility this provides an attractive learning environment meeting the needs of these students. This facility supports high-functioning Autistic students and those with Aspergers to succeed in secondary education.
