In addition to the fact that the buildings and grounds are magnificent, the features that set South Fremantle Senior High School apart from the crowd are the staff and students of this institution. South Fremantle is indeed fortunate to have a highly competent and dedicated staff and a group of students who, in the vast majority, are friendly, co-operative and willing to learn. They certainly posess plenty of " character" which is our school motto. South Fremantle High School was opened in 1967 and since that time has provided excellent educational services for students from a wide area south of Fremantle.The school has a fine reputation for providing a positive and supportive learning environment and is recognized as being at the forefront of pastoral care and student support initiatives.

The school offers a variety of courses to satisfy a range of student abilities, and has special courses in Academic Extension, Music, Drama, Baseball, Vocational Training and Marine Studies. Students are encouraged to achieve their full potential in an ordered and caring school environment.

Purpose

When students leave South Fremantle Senior High School they will have achieved the skills, attitudes and confidence needed for employment, further education and being effective members of society.

We offer a wide range of challenging courses allowing students the opportunity to achieve their full potential within a safe and caring school community.

In July 2007, SFSHS became the first school in Australia to commit to becoming Carbon Neutral - this is a major task with the school emitting 567 tonnes of Greenhouse gas per year.
