Special Programmes
Students from Years 8 – 12 with musical ability participate in this Specialist Program. Students perform, produce and record in the magnificent Calvert Music Centre equipped with rehearsal rooms, keyboard laboratory, digital recording studio and auditorium. Single “Fingertips Out of Reach” produced by students in 2008 was nominated in the 2008 West Australian Music Awards.
Students participate in local festivals and workshops, travelling interstate or overseas each year. During 2008, students had the privilege of performing with world renowned pianist David Helfgott as part of an annual fund-raiser, raising almost $15,000. The fitting-out of the recording studio was completed during 2008 and was the scene for a number of successful events including the official “launch” of the Calvert Music Centre.
For 23 years Music has been an integral part of South Fremantle’s S.H.S program. Under the guidance of expert teachers, students are encouraged undertake music studies and to play together in assorted musical formations. Classes are kept small to maximise student success and are conducted in the state of the art, purpose built centre, locally referred to as ‘Fremantle’s new music venue’!

South Fremantle Senior High School is the winner of 3 national senior titles, has produced 6 National All-Stars in 2007 and in early 2009 had 4 former students and the coach play in the WA winning team Perth Heat in the Claxton Shield.
Strong community links have been formed with local feeder primary schools through workshops and taster clinics and a yard ball competition has now been set up as an annual event hosted by the baseball players.
South Fremantle Senior High School facilities include 4 batting cages, baseball specific diamond with back net and dirt cut-outs and a large range of specific equipment.
